The Greatest Deed
Wellington City Mission unveiled Wellington’s Greatest Deed - a high-impact donation drive designed to rally community support for the completion of Whakamaru, its transformative new community facility. To mark the launch, we shoulder-tapped former Director-General of Health, Sir Ashley Bloomfield, to make a dramatic descent down the side of a Wellington high-rise to personally add the names of the first donors to the colossal seven-metre-long deed.
The campaign invited everyday Kiwis to make donations that would secure their spot on The Greatest Deed, which was displayed on the side of the First Base Accommodation building on Cambridge Terrace. This powerful visual installation, featuring hundreds of donor names, celebrated the contributions of New Zealanders committed to supporting the city’s most vulnerable communities. Once the campaign concluded, Wellington’s Greatest Deed was set to be permanently displayed within Whakamaru as a tribute to the generosity of Wellingtonians who helped bring the Mission’s vision to life.
We captured significant media and public attention, reaching over 2.4 million people and igniting a surge of community involvement. Wellington’s Greatest Deed didn’t just aim high - it scaled it. Together, we created a lasting legacy that shows when New Zealanders come together, they can reach new heights.
