The Return of The Hut
With our help, Pizza Hut brought back The Hut, its legendary all-you-can-eat buffet, for one week only to celebrate 50 incredible years in Aotearoa. The nostalgic pop-up was a perfect throwback to the iconic buffet days, featuring a full spread that included garlic bread, chips, a salad bar and, of course, free-flowing soft drinks. But the real star was the return of the infamous dessert bar, serving up soft-serve ice cream, raspberry jelly, chocolate mousse, and hot fudge sauce - just like the good old days.
Fans were eager to revisit the tastes, sights, and memories that only Pizza Hut can deliver, with over 77,000 individual Kiwis trying to buy tickets and both releases selling out in less than an hour. Given each booking transaction was an average of four people, we potentially could have had 288,000 people come along, making it the most popular buffet in the world! All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to Pizza Hut’s charity partner, Hato Hone St John.
Located at the City Works Depot, The Hut offered lunch and dinner sessions where guests could relive the magic of Pizza Hut’s buffet glory days. Fans flocked to experience the same flavours and fun they remembered from birthdays to family gatherings. The Hut was the ultimate trip down memory lane.
The results speak for themselves with over 42 million in media reach, almost 2.3 million in organic social reach, and Pizza Hut’s biggest trading weekend ever!
The Hut was an instant hit and reminded everyone why Pizza Hut is a beloved part of New Zealand’s culinary history.
